About Small Crochet Bear

The reason Small Crochet Bear is here is stuffed animal and nothing else. It does not try to cover the next three jobs along, and we would rather it did not. Only 9 people have saved it so far, so this is our pick rather than the crowd's. It is kristitullus's work. The review tab is empty. That is normal here and not a warning, but it does put the preview in charge.

Look for the finished measurements in the pattern. A toy that comes out half again as big is a different gift from the one in the photo. If you want one use for it, take teddy bear: that is the direction the designer clearly had in mind, and it is the one we would follow. One thing we always do and you should too: open the preview full size. A thumbnail hides exactly the detail that decides whether stuffed animal is really what you are getting.

The listing files it under amigurumi — those are the words it gets found by, and between them they describe the file better than any category name does. We filed it under Amigurumi and Toy Patterns for the obvious reason, and the shelf is small enough to read end to end. Nearby you will see toy, doll, plush and bunny, which is where to go if this one is nearly right but not quite. The wording people arrive with is crochet stuffed animals, teddy bear nursery theme, vintage teddy bear nursery, doll handmade and handmade doll house, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid.

How to use this pattern

  1. Download the PDF from Creative Fabrica and check the yardage and hook size before you shop — a small gift rarely needs a full skein.
  2. Work the gauge swatch anyway on anything that has to fit, like a hat or a bracelet; on a stuffed toy you can skip it.
  3. Stuff toys firmer than feels right and close the seam with a ladder stitch — a gift gets squeezed, and loose stuffing shows within a week.
  4. Make the first one a week before you need it. The second one is always the one you give away.
